Turning the Ship Around
02:13
|

Turning the ship around
Back to familiar ground
Back to the only place that I've belonged
Turning the ship around
Moving without a sound
No one can hear you admit that you were wrong
And I've been away so long
Trapped in a distance place
With a half-familiar face
Again I'm stuck with nothing left to do
My lessons are adjourned
And there's so much I have learned
My entire life is free to view
But I gotta go back to you

Rubbernecker
02:09
|
|
||
Third eye coming out of my forehead sees it happen
Never touching that stuff again
Metal flying all around me, I hear it humming fine
All unfolds in front of me
Stupidest thing you could've done
Rubbernecker
Don't you think you've had your fun
Rubbernecker
I smell blood out in the water, gravitates me
Aaah
Senses all befuddle me, que no comprendo
All unfolds in front of me

Keep in mind the prize that you have chased
Evolution is an awful thing to waste
And the birds in the air, and the fish in the sea
Will marvel upon what you've achieved
But soon your time will pass
Because man is the animal who laughs
You think you're at the top and all alone
But the standards that you judge by are your own
And to the world, your back is turned
Your oceans reek, your forests burn
The burdens we amass
Because man is the animal who laughs
I don't care what they tell me
I don't care what you do
I'm just trying to find a way back to you
Do whatever I gotta do
In your domain you think you've done it all
But outside your front door you look so small
And we send our chimps into outer space
Just to imagine the look on the face
Of anyone who'd pass
Knock 'em off their ass
Life is such a gas
Because man is the animal who laughs

Her Metal Bird
03:00
|
|
||
Eight miles high, but she brings me down so low
I try to get by, but she gotta let me know
Every little thing is a gremlin on her wing
A piece of advice if I may be so bold
Take it all as you will
She don't care what I gotta say
Her metal bird don't fly that way
I take a little drink from a tiny little bottle
She don't gotta think, she only gotta borrow
Every little thing is another gremlin on her wing
People come and people go, but know one thing is true
I don't know what trip you claim to be on
All I know is, I bought the same ticket as you

Overloader
02:17
|
|
||
Filling up on too many words
I still got something to say
Coming close to an overload
I still load up everyday
People talk about anything
When all the world is intangible
You become a narcissist
And document your every move
To prove that you exist
Coming close to an overload

Adventures in Jamestown
02:41
|
|
||
It was our first post
In an era of expansion
Now it's left a ghost
In an era of depression
The walkways once were busy, now they're dirty and they're bare
Waterworks and parking lots all fall to disrepair
Our little indoor cities, they once took our breath away
Now they look like some old place that we may die someday
Walking down the path
Looking for the end
Feeling all the sights
Of all of that had been
And all the WASPs and middle-class have left here long ago
"This place is getting kind of dark, it's no place for us to go"
The town is now a ghetto and they check you at the door
"This place is just no longer safe for family-types no more"
We got what we needed
And drove around the bend
Glad to know that our
Adventure was at an end
And this may be the last time that I see this sad old place
They'll build another Jamestown that'll have a fresh new face
Progress marches forward, and we leave our ghosts behind
They may be zombies in our lives, but they're beautiful in our minds
